Foster W. Stills, 81, of Conneaut, died Friday morning, September 3, 2010 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1929, in Masontown, West Virginia, and was the son of George and Edna Opal (Lambert) Stills.
After graduation, Mr. Stills enlisted in the US Army serving during WWII. He later worked as the head plant operator for CEI retiring in 1990.
Mr. Stills enjoyed piano, organ, fiddle, guitar and country music, especially playing in the band “Country Four.” He also enjoyed gardening, word searches, puzzles, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife Rena (Martin) Stills, whom he married February 1950; his daughter Brenda (Paul) Aliff of Minerva, OH; five sons, Henry “Bucky” (Cindy) Stills, of Conneaut, Eugene “Don” (Judy) Stills, of Jefferson, George “Punkin” Stills, of Conneaut, Robert Stills of Ashtabula, and Kenneth Stills of Kingsville; his sister Mary Street of Masontown, WV; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and more distant relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Forrest and Raymond Stills; and two sisters, Clara Mae Stills and Barbara Varner.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Joe A. Ernspiker of the Living Water Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, OH.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 7, from 12:00 until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.

M. Carol Hill, 85, of Conneaut, OH, formerly of Creek Rd., Kingsville, OH, died Tuesday evening, August 31, 2010, at Jefferson Health Care Center, Jefferson, OH. She was born December 31, 1924, in Cleveland, OH, and was the daughter of Victor and Jessie Ruth (Bennett) Moisio.
After graduating from Kingsville High School, she worked in Cleveland, OH, during World War II at an Army Air Forces Specialized Depot until her marriage on July 22, 1945 to Robert R. Hill. They lived temporarily in Washington, DC until his discharge and while there, she worked for War Assets, U.S. Government. After returning to Ashtabula, she worked for a short time at Ward Products Co. When she and her husband purchased Hill’s Sales & Service, she worked in the office for approximately 30 years. During that time she was on the board of the Kingsville Public Library for 27 years and served most of that as Clerk-Treasurer. She volunteered at the Ashtabula County Chapter of the Red Cross and later was on staff as bookkeeper for several years. Besides working as Office Manager at Hill’s Sales & Service in Kingsville, she also worked in the same capacity at Bob Hill Dodge City in Conneaut for about eight years, and was Kingsville Township Clerk from 1977 to 1983.
Mrs. Hill was a charter member and Past President of Neal Unit American Legion Auxiliary serving also in various other offices and was especially active in the Americanism and Buckeye Girls State Program. She remained active the entire 36 years the chapter was in existence. She was a member and past secretary and treasurer in the Emergo-Gateway Chapter of D.A.C. in North Kingsville; and was also a member of the Conneaut Finnish Heritage Club.
She was a member of the Kingsville Presbyterian Church where she was the Financial Secretary for several years as well as served as an Elder, a Deacon, sang in the choir, and was active in many Church projects.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, crossword puzzles, and music.
Survivors include her sister Doris M. Pryor of Jacksonville, FL; a niece Denise Wladyke of Jefferson, OH; four nephews John Pryor of Naples, FL, Mitchell Moisio of Cleveland Heights, OH, Shane Moisio of Greenfield, WI, and Grant Bennett of Monroe Center, OH; Mary Lou Moisio of Conneaut, OH and numerous great nieces and nephews and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert R. Hill; and her brother Victor Dayton Moisio.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 W. Main St., Kingsville, OH, with Rev. Bonnie Habbersett officiating. Burial will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery.
Calling hour will be from on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00.

Harold L. Georgia, 73, of Monroe Township, OH, died Monday morning, August 30, 2010, at his home. He was born September 16, 1936, in North Olmsted, OH, and was the son of Everett, Sr. and Helen L. (Brooks) Georgia.
An area resident for over 60 years, Mr. Georgia was a truck driver for Wenham Transportation and drove truck and performed maintenance for Sidley Concrete.
He was a member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene where he enjoyed being part of the 55 Plus Club. He had been a member of the Ashtabula County Wagon Train since 1988 and was a member of the Happy Riders years ago. He enjoyed horses, mules, traveling, sports, exotic birds and being with his friends and family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Sandra (Bax) Georgia whom he married October 29, 1955; his children Mary (John) Fassett of Harrison City, PA, Rick (Pat) Georgia of Conneaut, OH, Tammy (Terry) Flack of Williamsfield, OH, Dawn (Nick) Colby of Conneaut, OH, Tina (Rob) Furmage of Conneaut, Rex (Kathie) Georgia of Conneaut, and Rhonda Georgia of Painesville, OH; grandchildren, Carrie (Matt) , Tiffany (Brad), Reena (Mike), Jay (Danielle), Tera, Tanya (Kyle), Tyler (Karla), T.J. (Abbie), Amanda, Joshua, Cassie, James, Lisa and Jason Brammer; great grandchildren, Abby, Ally, Jordan, Jaycee, Alex, Jordan, Connor, Mya; T.J., Madelyn, and Rachel; sisters, Lois Otto of Anderson, SC, Madeline Toland of Massilon, OH, and Sandra (Jack) Ranney of Monroe Township; and numerous niece, nephews, and more distant relatives.

Robert B. Kennedy, 90, of Conneaut, OH, died Monday evening, August 30, 2010, at The Villa At The Lake in Conneaut. He was born November 4, 1919, in Conneaut, and was the son of William H. and Irene (Marvin) Kennedy.
A 1937 graduate of Conneaut High School, Mr. Kennedy worked as an engineer for most of his 39 years on the Nickel Plate Railroad and Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1979. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Bob was a member of the following: VFW Conneaut Post #2856 (life member), American Legion Cowle Post #151, 60-year member of Evergreen Lodge #222 F&AM, Royal Arch Mason Chapter #76, Grand Council of Conneaut Masons Council #27, Knights Templar Cache Commandery #27, Zem Zem Shrine of Erie, PA, Elks Lodge #256, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division #273 (life member), and the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Conneaut. He also served for eight years on the Conneaut Board of Education.
Bob was an avid musician and played trombone in many groups including the Marine Corps Band, the Shrine Band, the Kilpi Band, and in later years, several groups in Conneaut and Florida. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing in his younger days.
Survivors include his; his son Robert M. Kennedy (Karen) of Hartville, OH; his daughter Susan J. Krieg Shugerts (James) of Conneaut; grandchildren Benjamin Krieg, Kristin Krieg Lineberger (Kyle), Santos Liles, Phillip Kennedy, and Stephanie Kennedy; and great grandchildren Julia Krieg and Simone Lineberger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Kennedy, Sr., and Irene Marvin Kennedy McCumber; his wife Ellen (Morrison) Kennedy; and brothers Marvin Kennedy and William H. Kennedy II.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, September 3, 2010, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Buffalo and Main Sts., Conneaut, with Pastor Joyce Shellhammer officiating.

Dale G. Hoskins, 54, of Conneaut, OH, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010, at UH Conneaut Medical Center of an apparent coronary. He was born September 11, 1955, in Conneaut and was the son of Wesley Elman “Ike” and Margaret (Holdson) Hoskins.
He was an electrician by trade and had worked for True Temper Corp., The Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Company, and McVoy Electric. He then partnered with Michael Legeza in founding Harbor Electric, Inc. in Conneaut. Later he purchased Lake Plastics of Linesville, PA, and combined the companies to form Harbor Industrial Corporation, Inc., a manufacturing company.
He was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sailing in his youth, woodworking, and remodeling. He was a hard-working man, and a very proud father.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer (Quiggle) Hoskins whom he married June 28, 1980; his son Thor Q. Hoskins (a.k.a. “Roy” to his Dad) of Walnut Creek, CA; his mother Margaret Hoskins of Conneaut; his sister Linda (Mark) Kauppila of North Kingsville, OH; two brothers, Phillip Hoskins of Conneaut, and Thomas (Marilou) Hoskins of Elizabeth City, NC; nieces and nephews Kenneth (Kalan) Hoskins, Susan Hoskins, Jon Hoskins, Matthew (Abby) Kauppila, and Katie (Scott) Runyan; five great nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law Heidi Quiggle (Robert Stocker), and Pam Quiggle (Belinda Bungert).
He was preceded in death by his father in 2006.

Gladys A. White, 83, of Monroe Township, OH, and formerly of Southampton, NY, died Tuesday morning, August 24, 2010. She was born May 4, 1927, in South Hampton, NY, and was the daughter of George and Florence (Way) Brown.
Mrs. White had worked as a nurse’s aide at Leisure Days Nursing Home in North Sea, NY until it closed, and then worked as a cook/housekeeper for the Mosler family until retiring in 1984.
She was a devout Christian and loving wife and mother. A member of State Line United Methodist Church, she was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a lifetime member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #7009 in New York, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in New York. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, doing word search, cooking, baking, and going on bus trips to Atlantic City.
Survivors include her daughter Johanna (Roger) Curtis of Monroe Township, OH; a step-daughter Cheri Sheen of NY; six sons, Harold Wagner of OH, Gerald (Catherine) Wagner of NY, Charles Wagner of VA, Kenneth (Tammy) Wagner of NY, Marty Wagner of ME, and Clifford Wagner of NM; three step-sons Shepard White of NY, Ralph White of FL, and Tim White of NY; three sisters, Harriet Ross of GA, Ella Ambrose of NY, and Ann Miller of NY; a brother Jack Brown of NY; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Richard Wagner; her second husband Ben White; a son Richard Wagner; two grandsons Dusty Wells and Robert Curtis; three sisters, Mary Shaminiski, Florence Brown, and Mabel Brown; and five brothers Henry “Ike” Brown, Tom Brown, George Brown, Alfred Brown, and Charles Brown.

Irene Johnston, 76, of Conneaut, OH, died Monday afternoon, August 9, 2010, at UH Conneaut Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1934, in Linesville, PA, and was the daughter of George and Nettie (Moyer) Prouty.
A graduate of the former Rowe High School, was a cook at Deck Vending and at South Ridge Christian Academy, and was head cook at Brown Memorial Hospital at one time. She had also been employed at the former Astatic Corp.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of South Ridge Baptist Church where she was very active, serving as head deaconess, and on the service committee, and entertained many missionaries. She loved her grandchildren and her church family, and enjoyed cooking, and her dog Bridgette.
Survivors include her daughter Sharan (husband Oscar R. “Rawley”, IV) Huskey of Conneaut; her son Gale Johnston of Conneaut; and three grandchildren, Katherine Huskey of Pensacola, FL, Timothy Huskey and Rachael Huskey both of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Donald R. Prouty and Raymond Prouty; her husband John R. Johnston in 1991; and a son James at birth.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 12, at the South Ridge Baptist Church, 924 Center Rd., Conneaut, OH, with the Rev. Dr. Roger P. Hogle officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH.

Former Conneaut resident, Irene A. Vernak, 76 of Broadview Heights, OH, died Sunday evening, August 8, 2010, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Broadview Heights. She was born February 16, 1934, in Fair Oaks, PA, and was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Evanitski) Zawoyski.
An Ambridge High School graduate, she graduated from Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. After moving to Conneaut in 1964, she worked at Brown Memorial Hospital and later at the Conneaut City Health Department as a Public Health Nurse, retiring in 1994. She then moved to Broadview Heights, OH, to be closer to family.
She enjoyed reading, listening to music, growing indoor plants and outdoor flowers, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters Carol Cheney of Redding, CA, and Linda Vernak of Phoenix, AZ; three sons Michael P. (Teresa) Vernak of Broadview Heights., OH, Robert J. (Dolores) Vernak of Medina, OH, and John A. (Juliet) Vernak of North Ridgeville, OH; eight grandchildren Amanda Vernak, Samantha Vernak, Joshua Cheney, Steven Vernak, Rachel Vernak, Rebecca Vernak, Michael L. Vernak, and Ryan P. Vernak; and two great grandchildren Logan McDaniel and Beau Cheney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Michael C. Vernak in 1983.

Robert W. Hensel, 60, of Conneaut, OH, died Saturday evening, July 31, 2010, in West Springfield, PA. He was born September 27, 1949, in Painesville, OH, and was the son of Harry and Juanita (Budd) Hensel.
He was a graduate of Madison High School /Auburn Career Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4965 of West Springfield, PA, and the American Legion Cowle Post #151 in Conneaut. He was also a member of the Eagles Club.
Bob was a mechanic and worked as service manager at most of the area dealerships, and owned and operated Performance Motors Co., Inc. in West Springfield, PA.
He was active in boy scouting, and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, fishing, bowling, both driving and watching dirt track car racing, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca (McBride) Hensel whom he married October 22, 1982; daughters Dawn (Clarence) Lane of Albion, PA, Katelyn (Raymond) Bilbrey of Conneaut, OH, Jill Moss of Ashtabula, OH, and Brigette Hunt of Conneaut, OH; sons Robert (Jeanine) Hensel of Two Rivers, WI, Thomas (Brandy) Hensel of Eastlake, OH, Andrew (Melissa) Hunt, and Eric (Raulinda) Hunt both of Conneaut; three sisters Elaine Constante of Michigan, Hope Vinson of North Carolina, and Nancy Trowbridge of Indiana; two brothers Edward Kuhn of Madison, OH, and Warren Parrish of Travers City, MI; his step-mother Ruth Kuhn of Madison, OH; an uncle Earl Hensel of Madison, OH; numerous grandchildren, and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Martin Hunt, Jr.

Betty Ann Williams, 69, of Ashtabula, OH, died Friday morning, July 30, 2010, at Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born April 7, 1941, in Conneaut, OH, and was the daughter of Adam and Mary (Manz) Roland.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Williams had worked at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home as Dietary Manager, and at Rite-Aid primarily in Geneva. She and her husband also owned and operated the former Williams Family Restaurant in Conneaut at one time.
She enjoyed her family, sail boating, painting, crafting, puzzles, hedgehogs, merekats, watching the Animal Channel on TV; and loved her dogs and cats.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Howard P. Williams; her children Norman (Jamie) Loomis of North Carolina, Ann (Ralph) Loomis of Kingsville, OH, Trudy (Joe) Loomis of Ashtabula, OH, Julie (Heath) Edwards of Virginia, Paul (Kate) Williams of Ashtabula, Philis (Carl) Hall of PA, Steven (Mary) Williams of Kent, OH, Mike (Cindy) Williams of Jefferson, OH; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; five sisters Marie (Bill) Riley of Conneaut, Virginia (Chet) Gagat of Conneaut, Carol (Bob) Chirakos of Conneaut, Cathy (Jim) Hunt of Conneaut, and Marjorie (David) Baker of Ashtabula, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.

Richard H. “Pete” Cole, 69, of Conneaut, OH, died early Friday morning, July 30, 2010, at his home following a lengthy illness. Born August 23, 1940, in Conneaut, he was the son of Raymond A. and Susan D. (Champlin) Cole, Sr.
He attended Monroe Elementary School and was a 1958 graduate of the former Rowe High School. As a young man, he sailed the Great Lakes with Bethlehem Steel Co., then started as a laborer at the Norton Company where he worked his way up to Director of Manufacturing. He joined Plycraft Door Company as General Manager, and retired from General aluminum in 2003.
He was a former trustee of Brown Memorial Hospital; past president of the Conneaut Chamber of Commerce; past president of the Conneaut Area Industrial Association; and was a former member of the Society of Plastics engineers, the Exchange Club, and the American Cancer Society.
Pete enjoyed the outdoors, listening to country music, and spending time with his family, especially camping with his grandchildren at the Fish and Game Club. He was an excellent cook and prepared wonderful holiday meals for his family. A staunch Republican, he enjoyed talking politics and watching Fox News. Pete was known for his ingenuity and being able to invent something in any situation.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, with Pete’s nephew Rev. Roger Cole, pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Latrobe, PA, officiating. Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.

Jeffrey A. Stump, 49 of Monroe Township, OH, died at home on Thursday, July 22, 2010. He was born October 5, 1960, in Conneaut, OH, and was the son of David B. Stump and Jean M. (Lower) Stump Cole.
An area resident for the past seven years, he had resided for many years in New Mexico where he pursued his musical career. Known to many as a “musical genius”, Jeff could play practically any instrument that has strings. He was best known for his fiddle music that he injected into rock music and made it sound like it belonged there. He comes from such a musically-talented background with both his parents that it was inevitable that he would play and sing. His mother played and sang with a well-known local band called “The Lower Trio”, which Jeff filled in with occasionally in his youth. He played locally in the band “Shotgun” for seven years, playing fiddle, steel guitar, lead guitar, and sang lead and harmony vocals. He performed across the country with various bands such as “Ronnie Sessions and The Bullet Band”, the “Jeff Allen Band” and “The Stump Brothers Band”. Music was his life but he was also a huge NASCAR fan.
Jeff was the loving son of his mother Jean Cole who resides in Kinsman, OH; and is also survived by his companion and caregiver Loretta Tratar of Monroe Township, OH; his son Jeff Stump of Las Cruces, NM; three sisters Darlene (Bruce) Schirmer of Bedford, TX, Amy Harvey of Ashtabula, OH, and Mary Ann (Kenny) Mason of Kingsville, OH; his brother James (Laura) Stump of Springfield, TN; and numerous more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father David B. Stump.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, with Pastor Joyce Shellhammer of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.

An Ashtabula resident for most of her life, she did baby-sitting in her younger years, and enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her sisters with whom she had a close special bond.
Survivors include her two sisters, Catherine Armstrong of Ashtabula, OH, and Betty (Gary) Cole of Monroe Township, OH; and seven grandchildren, Carrie Jackman, Gina Anderson, Scott Honkonen, Ron Honkonen, Craig Honkonen, Clinton Honkonen, and Brooke Honkonen.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored all of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Debra (Rodgers) Talley whom he married June 8, 1987; five daughters Barbra Flinspach, Sherrie Talley, Angela Oliver (Mark McCray), Abbey Thomas (Ryan Sjoden), Cortney Peterson (Troy Peterson); one son Kenneth Talley; two sisters Delores Seigworth and Martha Ginnery (Tony Ginnery); 15 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and a foster son Clifford McCray.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Gary Seigworth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Patricia Strine Bien.

A Conneaut resident, since 1972, she was formerly employed at J.C. Penney, and was a member of Amboy United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the 50/50 Barn, the Conneaut Community Center for the Arts, and was involved with many charities and mission work, and was always giving to others. She enjoyed playing cards, was very artistic, and loved the beach and Lake Erie sunsets.
Survivors include her daughter Valerie Patchen of Geneva, OH; two sons Mark Patchen of Conneaut and Paul E. (Cora) Patchen of San Diego, CA; two sisters Gloria Bean of Rome, NY, and Loraine Dailey of Erie, PA; five grandchildren Marie Bretz, Marc Patchen, Barbara Patchen, Sean Patchen, and Ace Thomas; a great grandson Michael Sims; and a great-great grandson Dylan Sims.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth E. Patchen in 1996; and a sister Bea Cook.

Florence Rebecca “Becky” Hubbard, 82, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Thursday morning, July 1, 2010, at her home. She was born June 14, 1928, in Orlando, FL, a daughter of Joseph George Peach, Jr., and Juanita Olivia White Peach.
At the age of four, she moved with her parents to Kingwood, WV, where she graduated from Kingwood High School, Morgantown West Virginia Business College, and worked at the Kingwood Schools as secretary to the superintendent for five years. She then moved to Ohio and was the administrative assistant to the president of Wikett Machine & Tool Company in Washingtonville. She then worked as a secretary for W.M., Inc., before taking a job as a librarian with the Leetonia Board of Education. She was a former Campfire and Girl Scout leader and served as the church secretary for her husband. The last eight years before her retirement, she was an administrative assistant and head bookkeeper for six McDonald’s restaurants in the Canton and North Canton areas. She had been a resident of Moncks Corner for the past eight years and was a member of Pinopolis (S.C.) United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Michel Peach, and a sister Joan Kissner.
Surviving are her husband, Hugh H. Hubbard, Jr., whom she married December 12, 1975 in Youngstown, OH; two daughters Tyna Marie Milcetich and her husband Mark of Charleston, SC, and Hilliary Ann Leonard and her husband David of Norwalk, OH; a son Hugh H. Hubbard III and his wife Donna of Jefferson, OH; five grandchildren, Shawn Hubbard, Kristin Hubbard, Alain Hubbard, Shanna Milcetich Stephens and her husband Tod, and Adrianna Leonard; and three great grandchildren Ashe, Macay, and Macenzie.
