I just this evening read Betty’s obituary. Betty and my mother, Pat Rickard, were long time Conneaut friends. During the 70’s my then husband and I were living in Keflavik, Iceland, compliments of the US Navy. My mother wrote to say Betty would be traveling with another teacher to stop in Iceland on their way to travels in Europe. My husband and I picked up Betty & her friend at the airport and we all went to the finest (at Betty’s insistence) restaurant in Reykjavik, Iceland - it was a delightful time. We dropped the two ladies at their hotel following dinner and I’ve remembered that event all these years. I really enjoyed Betty - she sent us cards for many years following that time together.

What an interesting and resilient woman! I did not know she had outlived both of her husbands AND both of her sons.....I am so sorry for that. What an inspiration and a fine example for us all! The “Betty Affect” will continue for generations.

I send my sympathy to her family and friends.

I send my sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time. This scripture brought me comfort when I lost a loved one and I hope it can do the same for your family. (Psalm 34:18) May God give you comfort and the strength to endure through this difficult time.

Betty Elliott was a force in my life. Her good example of kindness, action, generosity with her house and heart will stay with me always. We didn't know what we were missing in our lives until Betty walked into our world in the eighties. I will miss her laughter and her welcome home. I will hold her example of good work as a light ahead of me on the path. Thanks, Betty. Love, Flish

I will always remember the Dewey Family Reunions on the river hosted by Aunt Betty! Many times we sang hymns around the campfire.

Aunt Betty was an inspiration for her wonderful joyful spirit, even in times of hardship. I need to remember her example in so many ways.
