Jay D. Shaffer, 46, of Conneaut, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 30, 2017 of natural causes. He was born August 26, 1970 in Ashtabula, OH, and was the son of Roger and Jayne (Dickson) Shaffer.

Jay was a graduate of Conneaut High School, and worked as an operator at Conneaut Leather. He enjoyed snowmobiling, mudding in his truck, working on cars in his garage, listening to music, and enjoyed all sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

Survivors include his mother Jayne Shaffer of Conneaut; his daughters Marissa (Jon Rohm) of Ashtabula, Calah (Brian Halmagean) Shaffer of Bryan, TX, and Shaleigh Shaffer of Conneaut; his son Brandon Baldwin of W. Springfield, PA; his grandson Tyler Halmagean of Bryan, TX; his sisters Sonya (Chris) Cobb of Chandler, AZ, Renee (Rodger) Sweeney of Byesville, Jenica (Lenny Ely) Shaffer of Conneaut, Shianne (Brandon Haley) Shaffer of Conneaut, and Raya Shaffer of Byesville; 1 niece; 11 nephews; and more distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father Roger Shaffer in 2010; his paternal grandparents Andrew Shaffer and Hazel Painter; and his maternal grandparents Duane and Betty Dickson.

Celebration of Life gathering will be held 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 176 Welton Rd., Conneaut, OH.

Contributions may be made to his family C/O Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
