Marian J. Briggs

Marian J. Briggs, 90, of Conneaut, passed away Saturday evening, February 24, 2018, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville, OH. She was born January 30, 1928 in Hubbard, OH, and was the daughter of Elmer Sellars and Anna (Gillie) Shultz.  Marian moved to Conneaut when she was 16. She attended the First Baptist Church and had a great interest in finance and business, loved shopping, jewelry, clothing, embroidering, people watching, and roller skating, which she continued up until the age of 73. Marian was a lover of dogs and cats, and adopted one of each from the APL. She also financially adopted a pet from “Best Friends” in Utah, and was able to visit there.  Survivors include her daughters Judith (James) Puls of Chandler, AZ, and Alynn (Brian) Gillespie of Twinsburg, OH; her sons Michael Briggs of Ashtabula, and Eugene (Debbie) Zappitelli of Bowling Green, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband E. Douglas Briggs; her daughter Aprile Phipps; her grandsons Michael Phipps, and Jeffrey Zappitelli; her great-grandson Gabriel Clark at birth; and her step-father Ralph Shultz.  Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday March 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 370 State St., Conneaut. Inurnment will take place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N.
