Ronald Giles Watson Sr., 64 years old of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly from Conneaut, Ohio passed away Friday, September 1st of a massive heart attack.  Ron was born on March 15, 1953 to Frank (Bud) and Shirley Watson.  Ron was a 1971 graduate of Conneaut High School.  During Ron’s career, he was employed with several local Manufacturing Companies Premix, Trans Plastic and General Aluminum.  His last place of employment was Tork Teck of South Carolina where he was planning on retiring within the next year.  The two things in this world that Ron loved the most was family and racing.  From an early age Ron was meant to race.  Following in his father’s footsteps, Ron’s “Green Grasshopper #1” held the track championship at Raceway 7 and Sharon Speedway. Ron competed amongst some of the greats such as Lou Blaney, Bob Kraus and Jack Andrews.  His hometown racetrack, Raceway 7 Friday nights were never missed, even after his racing career ended he was often seen supporting his brother’s and nephew’s as they carried on the Watson’s racing tradition.  Ron is survived by his, children Ron (Ann) Watson Jr., Delaware, OH, Holly (Dale) Drew of Conneaut, and Hunter along with his mother, Leanne Watson of Summerville, SC. Grandchildren: Nick, Jayden and Madison Drew.  Brothers, Jim (Kim) Watson of Conneaut, and Bill (Lisa) Watson of Monroe Township; nephews and nieces: Jay (Dee) Watson, Joel (Maria) Watson, Jessica Watson and Bud (Rebecca) Watson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother, Joan Watson.  Funeral service will be Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., where family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service.
