Doris J. Braden, 85, of Conneaut, passed away Monday evening, January 6, 2020 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville, OH. She was born March 1, 1934 in Chardon, OH, and was the daughter of Jake and Audrey (Sprinkle) Meeks and raised by her aunt and uncle Elsie and Morton Sprinkle.
Doris worked for Jefferson manufacturing for 5 years, school bus driver for Conneaut Area City Schools, worked at the corner store in Kingsville, and also worked as a waitress at the Sugar Bowl in West Springfield, PA, and for nine years in other various restaurants.
She was a Lutheran by faith and enjoyed canning, cooking and baking, (was known for her baked beans and peach upside down cake,) sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters Cheryl (Craig) Bancroft of Kingsville, OH, and Brenda Ensman of NY; nineteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle; her husband Leroy Braden; her son Keith Hayes; and her sisters Janice Hadlock and Marlene Hammond.
Graveside service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, June 5, 2020 in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, OH. Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St, Conneaut, has been entrusted with arrangements.
