Dorothy L. Wayne, 95, formerly of North Canton, passed away Tuesday morning, December 11, 2018 at the Villa at the Lake in Conneaut, OH. She was born July 24, 1923 in Canton, OH, and was the daughter of Ralph and Velma (Kuntzman) Bush.
Dorothy graduated from McKinley High School in 1941. She was employed for 20 years as office secretary at Canton Garden Center. She managed 65 garden centers in the Canton District until she retired in 1983 to begin traveling with her husband.
She and her husband Paul Wayne were married November 25, 1945, in Canton, and just celebrated their 73 wedding anniversary. Together they were avid boaters; they explored the inland lakes, Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, Great Lakes, and North Channel. They also explored all 50 states including Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada after selling their boat. Life resident of Canton, they moved to N. Canton in 1960 until recently, Paul and Dorothy moved to Conneaut in 2016 to be closer to their daughter.
Dorothy was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in N. Canton.
Survivors include her husband Paul of Conneaut; her son James (Pat) Wayne of N. Canton; her daughter Cyndi (Bob) Graf of N. Kingsville; six grandchildren Christi (Theron) Hodge of N. Canton, Michael (Karen) Wayne of Washington, D.C., Douglas (Stephanie) Roxberry of Conneaut, Kelley Kanith of Madison, Todd (Dawn) Roxberry of Wadsworth, and Stacey (Mike) Neczeporenko of Saybrook; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson-in-law Richard Kanith in 2011.
Private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Dorothy’s family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Villa at the Lake and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the loving care they gave their mother and grandmother in her final days.
