Emil R Rice, 87, passed quietly on Wednesday June 28th, 2017. He was born October 10, 1929 in Andover, Ohio and was the son of Edwin and Edith (Johnson) Rice.  He lived the last forty years at Homestead in Geneva where he enjoyed working at Ashcraft Industries and then Driftwood.  Ever present in his life at Homestead was Margie who has been involved in his life since 1978. The staff has always been loving and kind. He loved them very much and didn't like being away from them.  Emil enjoyed latch hook and crafts, and being with his Homestead family.  Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Sandy (Will) Watkins of Stamping Ground, KY, Julie (Jeff) Dodson of St. Louis, MO, Robbie (Sara) Dean of Jefferson, and Chrissy (Tim) Cross of Andover, plus other nieces and nephews throughout the United States and many great nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin & Edith Rice, siblings, Myrtus, Rawland, Eddie and sister Bettylou.  Private visitation was held Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Andover.  Contributions in Emil’s name may be made to Homestead Assisted Living, 599 W.
