Iona Lavere Deemer, 97, passed away Monday April 10, 2017 at Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born August 28, 1919 in Hartsgrove, Ohio to Milo & Chloie (Young) Evans. Iona was a graduate of Geneva High School, raised her family and worked in the food industry.  In 1951 she dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses & spent her life studying the Bible with many people. She was a staunch defender of her faith.  She enjoyed baking, bird watching, crocheting, knitting, sewing, making dolls.  Iona was extremely proud of her family. Survivors include her children, Shirley Lucas, Ron (Gail) Deemer, Harold (Sherry) Deemer, Edith (Mark) Sanford & Howard (June) Deemer; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Hamilton; sister in law, Edna Evans and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Royce, Keith, Blaine, Shirley and Charles; and sisters, Hilda & Audrey and son in law Donald Lucas.  At Iona’s request no calling hours will be observed. Memorial service will be held  6:00 pm Friday April 14, 2017 at West Springfield Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 14250 W. Lake Rd, West Springfield, PA 16443. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, OH 44004 , or to a charities of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
