James L. Artrip, 83, of Pierpont, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born November 10, 1933 in Logansport, IN, and was the son of George and Mary (McFarland) Artrip.

After high school graduation, James enlisted in the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he worked as a welder at HMT in Conneaut, and had worked other various jobs. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn, and working on old cars. James enjoyed spending time with his family, and always thought of Steve and Daniel as his own sons.

Survivors include his wife Sharon (Dalrymple) Artrip, whom he married March 28, 1980; his son Steve (Lorna) Bennett of Conneaut; brothers Robert Artrip of Independence, OH, and Dennis Artrip of Logansport, IN; four grandchildren, Scott, Crystal, Samantha, and Jessica; four great-grandchildren and the 5th on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Daniel Bennett; and his brothers Larry and Mike Artrip.

At James’s request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be held in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH. Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
