James C. Davin

James C. Davin, 90, of Conneaut, passed away, Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville, OH. He was born November 9, 1927 in Conneaut, and was the son of James M and Gladys (Riley) Davin.

James served in the United States Airforce during WWII, and upon returning home, worked as an engineer for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad retiring in 1987.

He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Parish, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on Lake Erie. James belonged to many organizations including the Conneaut Moose # 472, Conneaut Eagles #408, the American Legion Cowle post #151, and the NRA. His favorite pastime was rooting for the Cleveland Cavs, Browns and the Indians. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons Patrick (Jody) Davin of Conneaut, and James (Lisa) Davin of Lancaster, N.Y.; grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Petraitis, Jared (fiancé Raquel) Davin, Connor Davin, Cassie Davin, Lindsey Davin, and Kelsey (Zachary) Fisher; great-grandchildren Zachary, Atreyu, and Lincoln Fisher, Eleanor Davin, Garrett and Evan Petraitis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Geraldine (Julio) Davin; his sons Robert and Thomas Davin; and his sister Kathryn Hayes.

Memorial Mass will be 2:00 PM, on Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, with Rev. Philip Miller officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass at the church from 1:00 until 2:00.

Private burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
