James M. Green

James M. Green, 96, of Conneaut passed away Wednesday July 18, 2018 at the Villa at the Lake.  He was born October 30, 1921 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Elmer & Mary (Sloter) Green.  James served in the US Army as a Locomotive Engineer in the Persian Gulf Command during WWII.  After his discharge he worked for Nickel Plate & Norfolk & Western as an Engineer retiring in 1982 after forty- one years.  Mr. Green a Life member of the VFW, American Legion Cowle Post #151, Evergreen Masonic Lodge #222, Chapter #76 of Royal Arch Masons, Counsel # 70, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite Club of Cleveland and Ashtabula County, President of Class Reunion Conneaut High School Class of 1939, Member of Eastern Star.  James had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying, golfing and bowling in local senior leagues.  Survivors include his children, Linda Black of North Kingsville and Larry (Pauline) Green of Canton, MI; grandchildren, Shannon (Ryan) Beehler and Sean (Martha) Green; great-grandchildren, Maxwell & Elliot;  He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, sister, Jane King and his parents.  Funeral service will be held  1:00 PM Monday July 23, 2018 at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, where the family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Cowle Post #151.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association or to a charity of your choice in his name.  Please sign the guestbook at www.
