Leroy C. Campbell, 80, of Plymouth Township, passed away Wednesday evening, April 18, 2018 in the Hospice Unit at ACMC. He was born October 13, 1937, in Conneaut, and was the son of Clyde and Mary Nora (Bancroft) Campbell. Leroy graduated from Kingsville High School and entered the National Guard where he served for 15 years as an Intelligence Officer. He then worked for MRM Trucking, Polchosky Excavating, Simak Trucking and retired from Truckman in October of 2017. He was a member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the church board, taught Sunday School, helped with missions, and Heaven’s Train. He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151, and Moose Lodge #472. Leroy helped create Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and playing in the dirt. Survivors include his wife Ruth Ann (Baker) Campbell, whom he married September 26, 1981; his daughter Debbie (Phil) Malone of Conneaut; his sons Doug (Janet) Campbell of Cleveland, TN, Dana (Amy) Campbell of Conneaut, and Darren Campbell of Conneaut; step-daughters Sharon (Scott) Lindsey of N. Kingsville, and Susan (Charles) Fink of Warren; step-sons Lawrence (Janice) Griggs of Jefferson, and Jerry (Margaret) Griggs of Jefferson; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (Robert) Headley of Kingsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Dale Campbell; and his step-son Bob Griggs; siblings, Doris Rich and Richard Campbell. Funeral service will be Saturday April 21, 2018 at 5:00 PM, at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030 where family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene and Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
