Linda Ottilia Laine (nee Nyman) of Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 28, 2017.  She was born on February 25, 1923 in Conneaut, Ohio to Gust and Ottilia (Raita) Nyman.  Linda was a 1940 graduate of Conneaut High School and attended Davis Business School in Toledo. She married Raymond A. Laine on September 19, 1942 in Conneaut on her parent’s wedding anniversary. Linda was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild and church council.  In her early career Linda was a bookkeeper at Fortune-Byers Hardware and Tyler’s Gas Station both in Conneaut then she had three children before returning to work in banking. She lived in Conneaut until 2013 then moved to an assisted living facility in Monroe, Ohio near her son. Linda retired in 1979 and frequently traveled to Arizona and Florida to visit family and friends.  She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and Yahtzee.  For many years she and many of her friends got together in their “sewing club” that met regularly. It was more about chatting over coffee and “dunks” than it was about sewing.    Recently, she loved to play Words with Friends and to check out Facebook activity on her iPad.  She is survived by sons Terry (Julie) of Grand Rapids, MI; Tom (Tammy) of Monroe, OH; and Jim (Carol) of Phoenix, AZ and a brother, Waino (Betty) Nyman of Conneaut, OH.  Grandchildren: Jeffrey Laine, Debbie Kircher, Ashley Ashlin and Chelsie Greeson; great-grandchildren: Allison Laine, Brandon Laine, Ainsley Laine, Jay Kircher, Alexis Laine-Baca, Bailee Roberts, Brooke Roberts, Peyton Ashlin, Preston Ashlin, Madilyn Greeson, Trent Greeson and Daisy Greeson; and great great-grandson: Jude Laine. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces throughout the country and very special “family members” Alice Laine, Charlie and Beth Deck and their sons Andrew and Ben plus many long term friends still in Conneaut.  Linda is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ray, in 2008 and sisters Elvi Laslo and Estella Grow.  A special thanks to the staff and Linda’s friends at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village and Villa at the Lake in Conneaut and to the support staff from Hospice of Dayton.  Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday November 11, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant’s Mary Kittredge Chapel, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, Ohio 45050. A second memorial service will be held at Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut on Saturday  December 9, 2017 time to be determined.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Linda’s name to Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village’s Foundation at 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, Ohio 45050 or to Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45426.
