Mary Stouffer Obituary

Mary M. Stouffer, 58 of Kingsville passed away Monday April 23, 2018 in the presence of her loving husband. She was born March 12, 1960 in Euclid, Ohio to Thomas and Virginia (Giammo) Martin.  Mary not only loved life, but fought for it. She spent her life in service to her family and community.   As a member of the Board of Ohio Right to Life, she worked to save the lives of countless children. She also ensured that her children knew the importance of standing up for those who could not stand up for themselves.  For many years, she was a crisis pregnancy counselor, helping young women in difficult situations.   Mary became the chairman of The Kingsville Zoning Board of appeals, where she enjoyed serving her community in the volunteer position. She later became a firefighter/EMT with Kingsville fire department as another way to give back to her community in selfless service. She learned valuable skills which she utilized to save lives and help others.  As a Community Living Specialist / Emergency Preparedness Instructor at Western Reserve Independent Living Center, Mary utilized the training and experience that she had gained to advocate for people in need in Ashtabula County. She worked closely with county emergency preparedness organizations in mock drills and emergency planning to ensure the safety of our families in the case of an emergency. In this position, she was also able to assist individuals who required assistance getting back on their feet. She also taught classes at a local women’s home, ensuring that they would have the life skills needed once they returned to the community.  Mary is also the recipient of the State of Ohio Caregiver of the year award and The Robert Russell Leadership by Example Award.  Mary belonged to Christ Community Church in Willoughby and The Rock Church in Conneaut.  Survivors include her beloved husband James Stouffer who she married June 22, 1985; loving mother of Michael Stouffer of Los Angeles, CA , Mark Stouffer of Euclid, Danny Goff of Willoughby, David Stouffer of Kingsville, Jessica (Luis) Mendez of Willoughby, Matt (Kori) Stouffer of Conneaut, Jimmy Stouffer of Akron, Allison Stouffer of Ashtabula, Katie Stouffer of Kingsville, and eleven cherished grandchildren.  Mary will also be forever remembered by her father, Thomas F. Martin and brothers John (Kathleen) Martin, Richard (Siobhan) Martin and David (Michelle) Martin.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Martin and her mother and father in-law, James and Eileen Stouffer. She will also be welcomed by her 7 unborn babies whom she carried and have waited for her in heaven.  Funeral service will be Sunday April 29, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Ernie Sanders officiating, the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.  A Celebration of Life dinner will be held at The Rock Church, 265 Liberty Street, Conneaut, following the funeral service.  If you are unable to attend the funeral, we would still love for you to join us for dinner in honor of Mary Martin Stouffer.  Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Rd., Chardon, Ohio, 44024, Monday April 30, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Please meet at the front entrance at 9:45 am.  Contributions may be made to Doers of the Word Baptist Fellowship Church.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  Please sign guestbook at www.marcyfuneralhome.com
