Mildred Fenton Obituary

Mildred M. (Savel) Fenton entered into eternal rest Friday April 12, 2019 at the Saybrook Landing.  She was born March 13, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Dragon) Savel.  When she was younger her family moved to Denmark Center.  She attended Pierpont School graduating in 1947 in a class of thirteen.

Mildred married Fredrick Fenton in October of 1950 and they shared 59 wonderful years of love, Laughter and fun.  Together they enjoyed camping, traveling, playing cards and dancing.  They lived in Pierpont for many years where they attended Pierpont Presbyterian Church and were active members of the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department, helping them with their famous barbecue dinners and other fundraisers for the fire department.  They were also avid bowlers.  They had a special talent for showing love and spreading joy to all their nieces and nephews.

Mildred worked at Ashtabula Rubber Co. for 25 years until they moved to Interlachen, Florida in 1971 where they were members of the Interlachen Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW.  She worked at Suntec Paints in Gainesville, FL.  She was a volunteer at the Palatka Food Pantry and a 42 year member of the Palatka First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women in Palatka, FL.  She joined Trinity Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula when she returned to Ohio a few years ago.

Mildred was a fan of Tampa Bay baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, Florida Gators football and basketball and OSU football.  She enjoyed listening to country music and gospel CD’s.

Survivors include her brother, Richard (Emily) Savel of Harpersfield, Ohio and by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and in return loved their “Aunt Millie”, the “Fentinator” and “Millie Vanillie”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred in 2010; her only sister, Elizabeth Taylor, three brothers, John, George and Robert.  Her brother Joseph survived her but passed away one day after her death.

Words cannot express her family’s gratitude for the loving and kind care she received at Saybrook Landing from staff members who were like family to her and to us.  We would like to recognize Isabel, Amber, Kari, Bonnie, Avery, Amanda, Diane, Jessica, Heather, Tanisha and Lauren and others who helped to make her life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.  Also a special thanks to Ken and Terry, Dr. Al Shahed and to Bella Care Hospice staff, Jessica, Rhonda and Chaplain, Heidi.  We are grateful for all of the love, support and care.
