Royce Gene “Buck” Huston, Sr., 79, of Albion, PA, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Royce was born March 25, 1939, at home in Albion and was the son of Maurice and Marion (Rossiter) Huston.
He served active duty in the National Guard from 1956-1959, and in the Reserves from 1959–1962. Royce was employed as Quality Control Inspector at G.E. in Erie for 33 years, retiring in 1996, and was also employed by Giant Eagle in Conneaut, OH, until his retirement in 2007. He was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Albion where he served as Trustee, and the American Legion Post #742.
Royce was an avid outdoor enthusiast. His interest included, hunting, fishing, farming, camping, working on tractors, cutting wood, and painting cars. He also sang at one time in the Statesmen Barbershop Chorus. An all-around good guy, Royce was a family man who loved raising his 8 children and spending holidays with the entire family.
Survivors include his beloved wife Mary Jane (Henretty) Huston with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 5; three daughters Sheila (Scott) Williams of Mentor, OH, Sharon (Scott) Beery of Albion, PA, and Dawn (Shannon) Huston-Rider of Erie, PA; five sons, Royce “Bucky”, Huston, Jr. of Albion, Randy (Christina) Huston of Albion, PA, Michael Huston of West Springfield, PA, Matthew Huston of Albion, PA, and David (Chris) Huston of West Springfield, PA; 27 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two sisters Joanne Wozneak of Warren, PA, and Joyce Bowers of Locust Grove, VA; and two brothers Ronnie Grate of Kansas, and Russell Grate of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father Lyle Grate; two sons, Darryl in infancy and Duane at birth; two sisters Jane Liston and Judy Grate; and a brother Robert Huston, Sr.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 24, 2018, at Grace United Methodist Church, 49 Franklin St., Albion, PA, 16401, with Rev. Duk Hee Han officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, PA.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Thursday at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, 44030.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, or to the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, 19 Smock Ave., Albion, PA, 16401. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
