Sandra J. Dombroski, 77, of Conneaut, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 21, 2017 at UH Conneaut Medical Center. She was born September 23, 1940 in Conneaut, and was the daughter of Donald and Fanny (Maenpaa) Morton.

After graduating from Conneaut High School, Sandy attended Ohio University where she graduated in 1962 with her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She was a teacher with the Conneaut Area City schools, where she spent her entire career as a 1st grade teacher, retiring in 2000.

Sandy met the love of her life, Jim, while they were in the 7th and 8th grades.  They were married on June 24, 1961, and have spent 56 wonderful years together.

Sandy was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed traveling on the many family vacations throughout the years.  She also enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives, and going to luncheons with the Class of 1958. In the 70’s and 80’s, Sandy enjoyed spending her summers being a part of the Schlitz Slow pitch Softball team.

The most important part of her life was her children and grandchildren, especially attending all of their activities throughout the years. A longtime tradition, Sandy looked forward to having her entire family together Christmas Eve at her home. No one ever missed that special time with grandma.

Survivors include her husband Jim Dombroski; her daughters Karen (Steve) Kehoe of Powell, OH, and Sherri (Mark) Vendetti of Conneaut; her son Bob Dombroski of Conneaut; grandchildren Kristina (Chris) Hill, Kelsey Kehoe, Jake Kehoe, Leah Vendetti, and J.T. Vendetti; her brother Jack (Darlene) Morton of IL; and her beloved chocolate lab Brandy.

She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Fanny Morton; and her mother-in-law and (step) father-in-law Mary and Robert Nelson.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., with Rev. Nancy Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
