Sandra J. Jackson, 82, of Conneaut, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born May 10, 1937 in Kinsman, OH, and was the daughter of William and Helen (Mirzwa) York.
She married her husband Burton R. Jackson On Sept. 12, 1952. She was a homemaker while raising their eight children. During that time, she sold World Book Encyclopedias. After her kids were older, she was a teachers assistant at South Ridge Christian Academy where she also completed and received her high school diploma. She also graduated from the phlebotomy department at the VO-ED. She worked for her sister at W-WOW Radio Station, and also “Sarah Schenck’s,” and then retired from GNC.
She was a member of South Ridge Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, and baking. She was well known for her rolls and cinnamon buns. She also enjoyed Lake Erie, especially watching lightning storms from Township Park. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as GiGi.
Survivors include her children Gerald (Debbie) Jackson of Spring, TX, Rev. Greg (Sharon) Jackson of Easton, Maine, Burton (Pam) Jackson of Conneaut, Rachel (Roger) Cole of Hendersonville, TN, Rebecca (Jeff) Litwiler of Conneaut, Robert Jackson of Conneaut, Sarah (Dale) Huston of Conneaut, and Mary (Kirk) Hummer of Lewis Center, OH; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; her twin sister Sarah “Sally” (Ron) Terry of Conneaut; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Burton R. Jackson in 2010; her brother Richard York; her daughter-in-law Helen Jackson; her nephew John Lundgren; and her niece Sharon York.
Private funeral services were held at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which have been entrusted with arrangements.
