Sergeant Walker will be returning home on Tuesday evening October 29, 2019 to Cleveland Hopkins Airport and procession will be brought back to Conneaut, via Rt. 90 to Rt. 7 and then east on Main St. to the Marcy Funeral Home, please line the streets approximately 10:00 PM, subject to change, please watch our Facebook page for updates.

 

Sergeant Thomas Cole Walker, 22, of Conneaut, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 in a training accident at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was born August 5, 1997 in Conneaut, and was the son of Thomas and Tracy (Batchelor) Walker.

Sgt. Walker was a Conneaut High School graduate, class of 2016, where he played football his entire high school career.  After high school, Cole began his military career in the United States Army. During his career his received the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, received his Sharpshooter qualification badge with his bar inscribed “Carbine” and will now receive the Army Commendation Medal.

He was an amazing young man who enjoyed hosting backyard BBQ’s with his friends and family. He was passionate, selfless, and had an infectious smile everyone loved.

Survivors include his wife Taylor (Moisio) Walker, whom he married May 25, 2019; of Fort Stewart, GA; his father Thomas Walker of Conneaut, his brother Jared Walker of Lancaster, OH; his sisters Payton Walker of Conneaut, Whitney (Josh) Hennlich of Oak Creek, WI, and Wendy (Patrick) Kummerer of Waialua, HI; his grandparents Douglas and Nancy Batchelor of Conneaut, Tom and Marcia Walker of New Castle, PA; his auntie Wendy (Brian) DuBey of Pierpont; his uncles Chris Wiggins of Conneaut, Mark (Louise) Batchelor of Glen Burnie, MD, Rod Batchelor of Colorado Springs, CO, and Thomas Batchelor of Conneaut; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Terry and Sandy Moisio of Conneaut. He is also survived by his grandmother-in-law Rosalie Moisio of Conneaut, and several cousins, friends, and Brothers.

He was preceded in death by his mother Tracy in 2006 and grandfather-in-law Terry Moisio, Sr.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut. Full Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-9:00 P.M., Friday, November 1, 2019 at New Leaf United Methodist Church, and also on Saturday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M.
