Thelma Jean (Armstrong) Szalai

Thelma J. Szalai, 91, of Conneaut, passed away Friday November 22, 2019 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home with her family surrounded by her side.

She was born December 7, 1927 in Conneaut, the daughter of Walter & Hildred (Hicks) Armstrong.

Thelma retired from Brown Memorial in 1992.

Thelma loved being with her family. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, flowers and farming.

Survivors include her children, John (Jane) Szalai of Pierpont, Darlene Dowell of Columbus, Trudy (John Jenyk) Robison of Jefferson, Pamela (Gary) Anderson of Conneaut and Lori (Mark) Evans of Grove City, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John whom she married August 30, 1945; grandson, John Szalai, Jr.; great-grandson, Cody Robison; siblings, George, Harold, Robert, Richard Armstrong, Norma Szalai and Viola Erdman and son in law, Robert Dowell.

Graveside service will be 1:30 PM Wednesday November 27, 2019 at Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Twp. PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY.  Calling hours will be from 12:00- 1:00 PM Wednesday at Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
