Barbara J. Schomaker, 87 of Conneaut, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. She was born May 21, 1933 in Vinita, OK, the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Donelson) Brown.
Barbara began working at the age of thirteen. She taught dance at Arthur Murrey's studios in Erie, later working as an assembler and then became a forklift operator for Marx Toys for 28 years until the place closed their doors forever. She then went to work for BWI Plastics in much the same capacity being in charge of plastic supply & storage for several years until she retired. She was Methodist by faith and was a voracious reader until the last few years. She enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, SVU, and NCIS. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters Twila Dewey and Vickey Barker, both of Conneaut, and Sunni Rae Harvey of Waynesville, MO; grandchildren Michael (Vika) Dewey of McKinney, TX, Brandy Kohut of Akron, OH, and Bethany (Tony) Manhollan of Youngstown, OH; great-grandchildren Gavin, Ian, and Cullen Dewey, and Devin and Riley Kohut; and her sister Rosalie Rabuck of Newton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved younger brother Carl Brown, and her ex-husband John Schomaker.
Private family services will be observed.
