Bernadine "Bernie" F. (Hill) Kovacevic

Bernadine “Bernie” F. Kovacevic, 100, of Conneaut, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at The Villa at the Lake. She was born November 24, 1922 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Frank and Zella (Kelly) Hill.

Bernie graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1941. During World War II she worked for various factories in Ashtabula and Conneaut. For over 30 years, Bernie was the greeter for Marcy Funeral Home, retiring shortly after her 95th birthday.

She was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church, the Conneaut Historical Society, and the Irish Colleens. For many years, Bernie worked at the voting polls in Conneaut.

Bernie enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, gardening, flowers, eating out, cooking and baking, especially her famous pies, and traveling with her husband Joe to several states and France.

Survivors include her daughters Sharen Jo Lysiak of Blasdell, NY, Janet (Tom) Povinelli of Hamburg, NY, Lisa (Bob) Ille of Conneaut, and MaryBeth (Philip Fredricksen) Kellee of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Cindy Rodriguez, William Lysiak, David Lysiak, Erin Ruiz, Heather Schmit, and Scott Ille; great-grandchildren Britt Hunley, Bella Ruiz, Ava Ruiz, Sofia Ruiz, and Landon and Maxwell Schmit; and great-great-granddaughter Jadyn Hunley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph R. Kovacevic in 2006 after 65 years of marriage; her brothers F. William Weeks, and Gordon Hill; and son-in-law Warren Lysiak.

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut with Rev. Tim Kraus officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the funeral home and on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at noon.
