Bert W. Jackson, Sr., 96, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Sage Park Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Gahanna, OH. He was born May 15, 1924 in Benham, KY, and was the son of George and Lola (Walker) Jackson.
Bert graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Army. He then worked for the United States Postal Service as a postal carrier. After his retirement, he became an Auxiliary Officer for the Cleveland Police Department.
He was a past Mason of El Hahsa Temple and was a member of the American Legion Post 315. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH, and enjoyed being with his church family and fishing.
Survivors include his sons Bert Jackson, Jr. of Richmond, VA, and George Burkes of Lorain, OH; seven grandchildren; and his special niece and caretaker Charlotte Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cynthia Wilcox; his sisters Goldie Jackson, Minnie Shaw, Bonnie Walker, and Margaret Crump; and his brothers Earl, Charles, James, and Harry Jackson.
Graveside service will be 12:30PM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 in Glenwood Cemetery, Rt. 20, Conneaut, with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00AM until Noon, Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH., which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
