Betty Jean Eller age 94 of Conneaut entered into eternal rest with her Lord on January 2, 2021 following a short illness while residing at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Betty was born on February 14, 1926 in Wayne Twp. the daughter of Bonita and Edward Boyles. Betty was the middle of 11 children and helped raise her younger sisters and brothers.
Betty grew up in Orwell and graduated from Orwell School. Following high school, she moved to Geneva, Ohio. During World War II she worked at Standard Drug Store and at The Home Restaurant at Geneva on the lake where she lived with Bebe Mullin who later became her sister-in-law. She introduced her to the love of her life, Lawrence (Larry) Eller Jr. whom she married on October 19, 1946.
Together Betty and Larry raised 3 children: Lawrence (Skip) III, Susan Jane and Barbara Jo.
Betty was a Home Maker, lived in Ashtabula then moved to North Kingsville in 1961. Later along with Larry in 1972 they purchased Larry’s House of Donuts in Conneaut, Ohio. They operated the Donut Shop until their retirement in 1987.
Betty was an active member and Deacon for many years of the North Kingsville United Presbyterian Church. Recently she had been attending the Federated Church in East Springfield, Pa. with her daughter Barbara. She was a member of the Orion Chapter 12 Order of Eastern Star in Kingsville.
Betty is survived by a sister Louise (Sid) Jenkins of Grand Junction Colorado; son Lawrence (Carol) Eller III of North Kingsville and daughter Barbara (Tom) Hopkins of Conneaut. Also, her Grandson Aaron (Kristi) Feather of North Kingsville and Granddaughter Stacy (Mike) Hozalski of Wellington, Ohio. Great Grandchildren are Mason Feather, Ethan, Brendan and Lyndsie Hozalski. Also surviving is an adopted daughter to the family, Valerie Bucci of Ashtabula along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry; daughter Susan Jane College and her husband Joe College. 5 Brothers Raymond, Lloyd, Robert, Richard and Edward (Eddie) Boyles and 4 sisters; Dorothy Fenton, Doris Mackey, Edna Moyer, Elizabeth Jones. Also step-sister Goldie Runyan and step-brother Russell Runyan.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the family will have a private service at Marcy Funeral Home in Conneaut on Thursdays, January 7th. The family will gather at noon to reminisce and will be followed by a service performed by the Rev. Tim Kraus at Betty’s request. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Garden in North Kingsville. We regret these measures but deem them necessary for safety reasons.
