Brian Slocum, age 70, of Ashtabula passed away Wednesday November 17, 2021 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. He was born October 24, 1951 in Mansfield, Ohio the son of James Slocum & Jeanette (Klaue) Slocum Ellsworth.
Brian always worked in the medical field, from the time he was a teenager driving ambulances, working as a surgical technician in the Air Force, through many years at ACMC in the cardiology department, and finally retiring from University Hospitals. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
Brian belonged to the Ashtabula Elks and American Legion.
He maintained his pilot license and enjoyed flying planes as a hobby. He also enjoyed travelling. His love of Lake Erie led to his enjoyment of sailing for many years. He spent a lot of time sailing and participating in sailboat races with good friends and his son Kevin, and he was an avid hunter, enjoying many hours in the woods with his son Dan. He was a Merchant Marine.
Survivors include his two beloved sons, Daniel Carl & Brian Kevin Slocum; mother, Jeanette Ellsworth; siblings Scott (Cindy) Slocum and Lori (Nicholas) Fazio; his former wife and friend, Carol Kercher, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Rick Slocum.
No services will be held at this time at Brian’s request.
