Bruce J. Pakkala, 52, of Conneaut, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born January 30, 1969 in Ashtabula, the son of Robert E. and Patricia M. (Recore) Pakkala.
Bruce graduated for Geneva High School and was a dedicated employee for the City of Ashtabula in the Public Works Department. Before working for the city he had worked for Esab.
He was a member of the Local Union AFSCME and enjoyed motorcycles and working on cars, he and his brother had built cars together. He also drag raced at Thompson Motor Speedway. His passion was painting, Bruce was very artistic and liked woodworking, and was a comedian.
Bruce was a jack of all trades and was the most compassionate man with a heart of gold.
Survivors include his parents Robert and Patricia Pakkala of Ashtabula; his wife Jodi (Howland) Pakkala, they met in August 2014 and married October 10, 2020; his son Brandon Pakkala of Arizona; his daughter Hanna Pakkala of Madison; his step-daughter Gina Carlucci of Conneaut; brother Brian Pakkala of Jefferson; sister Justine (Jim) Doherty of Geneva; nieces and nephews Kelsey, Hailey, Megan (Matt) Ryan (Rachel,) Adam, and Jimmy (Ericka;) and his father-in-law and mother-in-law David and Jean Howland of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his niece Ashley Pakkala.
Private family services were held at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
