Bruce S. Smola, 83, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away at his daughter’s residence in Conneaut, Monday evening, December 5, 2022. He was born July 18, 1939 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Stephen and Irene (Szalicki) Smola.
Bruce graduated from high school and entered into the United State Air Force serving from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He received his associate degree in business at Tri-C Community College and owned and operated Pat Plating Shop. He then worked as a clerk for the post office.
Bruce was Catholic by faith. He went to qualifying school to become a professional golfer and belonged to the PGA. He enjoyed playing poker with his close group of friends for over 40 years, playing bridge, was a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan and raised birds of all types.
Survivors include his daughter Lynn Joslin of Conneaut; his grandchildren Ashlea (Jon) Derkits, Steven (Stephanie) Joslin, and Amber Joslin; great-grandchildren Julian Joslin, Emma Joslin, Parker Derkits, and Cole Walker; and many nieces, nephews and more distant relatives, and very close friends and caretakers, Jim and Vicky Andoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna Faye (Roberts) Smola; and brother Dennis Smola.
No local services will take place. Inurnment will take place at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
