Carl J. Mooney

Carl J. Mooney, 95, of Conneaut, passed peacefully in his sleep October 10, 2022. He was born June 25, 1927 in Conneaut to William and Oriean (Kinsinger) Mooney.

Carl entered the United States Coast Guard following graduation, then enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served until the end of WWll. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to begin work at the former Astatic where he worked every position and finished his career 36 years later as Vice President.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Corpus Christi Parish, and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, watching the Cleveland Indians, and taking trips to Presque Isle Casino. He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151 and the Conneaut Moose Club #472. Above all, his greatest pride was hosting the entire family during the holidays.

Survivors include his two daughters Linda (Sidney Gregory) Eckenrod and Cheryl (Carl) Heinonen; grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Randolph, Hollie (David) Swartzfager, Alison (Zachary) Hathy, Lora (Mike Brydle) Faenza and Ashley Gregory; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty (Thayer) Mooney; and siblings James, William, Gerald, Merlan, Irene, and Clara.

A Celebration of Life for Carl will be held at a later time.
