Charles N. "Chuck" Furmage

Charles N. “Chuck” Furmage, 70, of Kingsville passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born October 10, 1950 in Conneaut the son of Robert “Bob” & Doris (Applebee) Furmage.

Chuck was a 1969 graduate of Edgewood High School.

He worked for Austinburg Feed Mill, Horner Box in Jefferson, Geneva True Temper, the Perry Power Plant, he apprenticed for IBEW Local 762 in Ashtabula which later consolidated with Local 673 in Mentor from which he retired in 2009.

Chuck was a man of service. His greatest values were God, his family, and his job. Growing up he, alongside his dad, helped to haul and lay the cement blocks of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. His father taught him heating and cooling trade. Later, Chuck reopened the family business, Furmage Heating and Cooling, which he owned and operated from 1979 to 2013. He was also a substitute teacher for the electrical program at A-Tech in Jefferson. These trades he passed down to his son, Tyler.  

He was a lifetime member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the board and as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.

He and his wife, who he affectionately called “Jan Girl,” could often be found at the dinning room table enjoying Sunday dinners, or playing cards with friends and family while drinking a cup of coffee. Together they hosted many family events and camping trips in Cook Forest.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years Janice “Jan” (Barker) whom he married on June 19, 1971, children: Angela & Ed Jones, Aimee  Zimmerman, Austin Furmage, Tyler Furmage and McKensey and Luke Taylor; grandchildren, Jade Jones, Lauren and LeAnn Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Aria, Aubrey, Gabriel Furmage and Olivia & Jaxson Taylor; siblings, Sue & Wayne Johnson and Ken and Donna Furmage.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours from 5 to 7 PM Sunday on June 20, 2021 at the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, 4841 State Route 84, Monroe Township., Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Monday on June 21, 2021. Burial will follow at the Kelloggsville Cemetery.
