Charles P. Olmsted

Charles Pittis Olmsted was born June 27, 1934 and passed away peacefully at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home on March 13, 2025 following a very brief illness.  He was the loving son of Howard and Frances (Pittis) Olmsted.  Charles was born in Conneaut and called it home his entire life, living in the house that his parents built.

Charles graduated from Rowe and went onto serve in the Army.  He later retired as an engineer from Dunbar and Sullivan in 1988.  His interests included cars and animals.  He cared for every stray cat that wondered into his yard which included taking them to the vet and feeding them daily (as well as the occasional raccoon).  He was also the best neighbor anyone could ask for.

          Charles was a quiet and kind soul who was liked by everyone who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his cousin Brian Keener, and many lifetime friends.  He is survived by his former neighbors and dear friends Chris, Jody, Rachel, Abby, and Nick Brecht, Roger and Kathy Kester, and Debby Nickels.

          As per his request, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00am at Glenwood Cemetery with Pastor April Osborne presiding. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League.  Envelopes will be available at the service and at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is in charge of arrangements.

A special thanks is also extended to the wonderful staff of the Ashtabula County Nursing Home who lovingly cared for him in his final years.
