Charles (Chuck) R. Brooker, 88, of Monroe Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday May 25, 2023 at UH Conneaut Medical Center, with all his family by his side. He was born July 20, 1934 in Portland, New York, the son of Alfonso and Delfina (Musso) Brooker.
Chuck served in the US Army from 1957-1959 before being honorably discharged.
He sailed the great lakes for many years. He was a dedicated employee and production supervisor at the Union Carbide/Linde Air plant in Ashtabula until his retirement.
Chuck belonged to the Lake Erie Boat Club and the American Legion Cowle Post #151.
He was passionate about fishing and boating and spending time on his boat, the Katie II. When he wasn't on the water, his other passion was working in his garden growing all kinds of vegetables. He also loved cooking, and making many meals for his family, we always had something in our fridge that he made. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends, but what seemed to give him the most joy was being able to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jayne Brooker, and his children, Steven (Deb) Brooker, Cheryl (Lee) Alexander; grandchildren, Katie (Jared) Camp, Nick Brooker, Ashley and Josh Alexander, Whitney (Bobby Devita) Sommers, Riley (Cassie) Sommers, Chase (Erin Cotton) Sommers; great-grandchildren, Cohen and Cooper; brother, Bill (Becky) Brooker.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso and Delfina, grandson, Jacob and great-granddaughter, Ravenna and brothers, George and Fred.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday June 10, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home conducted by the Conneaut American Legion Cowle Post # 151.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ravenna Lee Candle Company, in memory of his great-granddaughter, Ravenna Lee. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
