Dannette Marie Ingersoll (nee Schmidt), 81, born to the late Daniel and Margaret (Tanner) Schmidt on July 24, 1942, passed peacefully on October 4, 2023 at The Villa at the Lake surrounded by family.
Dani, as she was known to her family and friends, graduated from Conneaut High School. She loved to bake, loved to sew, loved to knit, loved her flower gardens, and loved to give. She had many different careers throughout her life, but after retiring from the Ashtabula County Emergency Management Agency she was able to focus all her time and attention towards her most treasured and prized profession, Grandmother and then finally Great Grandma. Dani sure did love the babies. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and looked forward to every high school reunion and lunches with the Lakeview Elementary School Gang. She also relished her undisputed crown of being the Popcorn Ball Queen. Nothing gave her more joy than the neighborhood kids coming back on Halloween with their children asking for her homemade popcorn balls.
A big hole is left in her family which include sons Dr. Christopher (Mary) Ingersoll of Orlando, FL, and Keith (Sheree Bittner) Ingersoll of Conneaut; daughters Kelly (Charles) Anthony and Karen Picard of Conneaut, and Katherine (Gregory) Simmons of Geneva, OH; grandchildren Kayla (Nick Taucher) Ingersoll of Oakton, VA, Megan (Bradley) Webber of Stoutsville, OH, Tanner Ingersoll of Grand Rapids, MI, Thomas Ingersoll of Toledo OH, Ryan Picard of Conneaut, and Luke and Hudson Simmons of Geneva, OH; and great-grandsons, Lucas Aponte-Picard of Ashtabula, OH, and Nolan Webber of Stoutsville, OH. Also surviving her are her sisters Lenora Toth and Billie Gee both of Conneaut and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Thomas Schmidt.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Rev. Joshua Krenz of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
