David A. Lewis Jr., 89, of Monroe Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born on September 30, 1931, in Fairport Harbor, OH, the son of David and Helen (Herpy) Lewis, Sr.
Following school, David enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Cross and was honorably discharged on February 13, 1953. He returned home and became an Operating Engineer for the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock company for many years.
David had a great love for the water and enjoyed boating and fishing, mowing his grass, watching the Cleveland Browns, and working on cross word puzzles. Most of all, he loved to be surrounded by family.
He is survived by seven children; Christieda Sleigh of Monroe Twp, Heather (Mark) Kohler of Erie, William (Pam) of Sheffield, Mike (Maggie) of Monroe Twp, David (Judy) of Monroe Twp, Mark (Kathy) of Conneaut, and Brian (Denise) of Madison; his sister Lisa Baum of Fairport Harbor; and his brothers Lee (Lucille) Koszey of Bethlehem, PA, and Mike (Terry) Koszey of Willoughby. He will be dearly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Dorothy whom he married on October 10, 1950; two daughters Gretchen in infancy, and Cynthia Lewis; and two sons-in-laws George Sleigh and Randy Towne.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 4, 2021, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH. Burial will follow in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.
Calling Hours will be 1:00-3:00 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the funeral home.
