David Lira Obituary

David E. Lira, 30, of Painesville, OH, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident on June 12, 2020. He was born November 11, 1989 and was the son of Michael and Lisa (Lira) Hanson.

David was a member of Corpus Christi Parrish where he was an altar boy growing up. He graduated from Conneaut High School in 2008 where he was in advanced classes and attended the Allegro program. After graduation he went on to attend Akron University.

Throughout his life, he had a huge passion for cooking and entertaining those around him. From a young age, David loved to cook for family, especially while visiting his grandparents. This passion grew within him as time went on, and he fulfilled his dreams of becoming an accomplished chef. David worked at many establishments since attending college and loved his position as a chef at Smoke BBQ Grill in East Lake, OH. His personality enabled him to grow as an entertainer. He was an accomplished musician and loved to sing and had once been a contestant for the Conneaut 4th of July “American Idol.” He performed during high school plays and even was chosen to be a part of the “Indiana Jones” performances at Disney World, during two separate family vacations.

He was a huge fan of sports, supporting all major Cleveland Teams, and having a fantasy football team was a must, and he enjoyed to golf, especially with his dad.

David was a shining star, who would light up a room with his smile! His intelligence was obvious to all and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Survivors include his parents, siblings Maria and Patrick Hanson of Conneaut; grandparents Lou and Debby Lira of Andover, OH, and Chuck and Alice Hanson of Conneaut, OH; uncle Mike Lira of San Antonio, TX; aunts Theresa Marthaller of Madison, OH, and Christina White of Conneaut, OH.; girlfriend Celina Sayegh of Willoughby, OH.; godparents and aunt and uncle Eddie and Cindy Fernendez of Ashtabula, OH; cousin  Shon Cline who was thought of as a brother and his father Mick Cline of Conneaut, OH; uncle and aunt Jim and Ling Hanson of Conneaut;  lifelong and best friend Dallas Tomilson of Cleveland, OH; and many other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Gloria Lira, and grandparents Rudy and Maria Mireles and Althea Smith.
