David L. Roach, 77, of Conneaut, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at UH Conneaut Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1948 in Huntington, WV, the son of David Brown and Loris Roach.
David worked as a supervisor for CJ Hughes Pipe in Huntington. Alongside his wife, Maxine, he owned and operated Celebrations on Main Street in Conneaut. He was also a devoted member of Kelly Hill Baptist Church.
David had a passion for working with his hands and could often be found in his garage, tinkering with cars and repairing lawn mowers. He enjoyed collecting model cars, tools, pocketknives, and firearms. Known for his attention to detail, he took great pride in his lawn, always keeping it neatly trimmed with perfectly straight lines.
In his free time, David loved watching classic Westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and enjoyed home-cooked country food. He had a great sense of humor and was known as “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren and their friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Maxine (Ensman) Roach whom he married January 6, 1968; daughter Mary Jane Jackson of Conneaut; sons Paul (Kim) Dickey of VA, John (Loretta) Dickey of PA; sisters Carrie (Bob) Schlawin of VA, Dorothy Brown Heaton of WV, Carolyn Brown of WV, and Connie Brown of SC; brother Jimmy Short of WV; grandchildren Justin Bishop of WV, Bekki (Todd) Jackson of Conneaut, Seth (Kristy) Dickey of Conneaut, Amanda (Steve) Zappitello of MI, Kaitlin (Dylan) Earl of VA, Davie Hathy of Mentor, and Justin Hathy of Ashtabula; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt who raised him Marie “Maw” Brown; son Otis Franklin Dickey, JR. grandson Jeremy Hathy; sisters Brenda Ayers, Ruth Monroe, Sharon Murdock, and Elizabeth Pauley; and brothers Harold and Jessie Brown.
No services will be observed.
