Deborah J. Woods, 71, of Conneaut, passed away following a brief illness, Sunday, October 12,2025 at University Hospital, Cleveland. She was born July 28, 1954 in Port Clinton.
Deborah graduated from high school and hitchhiked across the United States when she was 18 years old. There are only two states she never got to visit. She went on to college earning her associate’s degree in library science. She loved the Lord and was baptized last July. She was a member of The City Church in Ashtabula where she volunteered with many things, including working at the café after services.
Deborah also volunteered at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She would decorate the community room at Conneaut Manor and would help wherever she could. She has a love for reading, Chrisitan music, Rock & Roll, diamond art, being with her friends and helping people.
Her greatest joy was being a proud grandma to her grandson Phillip, always telling everyone about him and how much she loved him and loved life.
Survivors include her daughter Sarah (Terry) Bryant of Ashtabula; sons James Wharton and Robert Wharton, both of Florida; grandson Phillip Hepworth; loving companion Duane Conrad; sister in Christ and best friend MJ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of life will be 2:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Conneaut Manor Community Room, 232 Harbor St. Conneaut.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Deborah’s memory to the Ashtabula County Nursing Home activities fund, 5740 Dibble Rd., Kingsville, OH, 44048. Envelopes will be available at the Manor and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
