Donald Horwood, 93, of Conneaut, passed away September 7, 2023 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville, OH. He was born September 30, 1929 in Conneaut, the son of George and Dorothy Horwood.

Don was a 1947 graduate of Rowe High School where he was class president for four years. At Rowe, he participated in basketball, baseball, and track. He continued to play baseball with the East Conneaut Firemen and West Springfield Merchants baseball teams. He played City League basketball with Ed Gray’s All-Stars and Astatic teams as well as fast-pitch softball with the State Diner, General Motors, and Astatic teams.

After high school Don studied for two quarters at Fenn College (Cleveland State) then returned to Conneaut to work at B & B Cleaners until 1959. At that time, he enrolled in Kent State to study to be a high school math teacher. Don was a cancer and stroke survivor and in later life depended upon his wife Pat to do most of the work around their home.
