Donna Carlene (Hughes) Simpson

Donna Carlene Simpson, 82, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025.

Born on March 24, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, Donna lived a life filled with love, faith, and compassion. A devoted mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into raising her family, always putting the needs of her children and grandchildren before her own. Her love was steady, unconditional, and fiercely protective. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took pride in every milestone, big or small, that they achieved.

She had a giving heart and offered her help without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. She was a faithful Christian whose close relationship with God guided her life and gave her strength in both good times and hard ones.

She also had a spirited side-she loved a good cocktail, had a witty sense of humor, and was a dedicated bingo player for many years, rain or shine. She thoroughly enjoyed her morning coffee, honeybun, and daily phone call with her brother. She was a wonderful cook and made many delicious dishes that became traditions in the family. Friends and family never failed to notice her fondness for plants and flowers, and her love of the color purple. She loved coloring, crocheting, going camping, watching wildlife, and relaxing with her iPad. She also had a special love for jewelry and always enjoyed getting her nails done. Never one to be stuck at home, she loved trips even just to buy groceries, but also loved going for rides and sharing stories.

She had a deep love for animals, especially the many dogs she had over the years, each one treated like a cherished family member.

Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Hughes, her first husband Walter “Ozzie” Osborne; her second husband George Simpson; her brother James Hughes, Jr.; and so many beloved pets.

She is survived by her children Tammy (Junior) Curtis, Debbie (Avery) Turnage, Brian (Shauna) Osborne, Kevin (Debra) Osborne, and Shari (Barry) Bartosh; grandchildren Aaron (Jen) Curtis, Kayla (Justin) Curtis, Kristy (Wilson) Santiago, Christopher Rhodes, Shannon (Larry) Ruffo, Jory (Jen) Rhodes, Joe (Katie) Osborne, Jennifer Wassie, Douglas (Brianna) Ricci, Eddie Anderson, Jr., Shelby Anderson, Carly (Aric) Barnes, Stephanie (Russell) Osborne, Justin Osborne, Nikki (Nate) Brewer, Korey Bartosh, and Kimberly Bartosh; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in East Conneaut Cemetery, Furnace Rd., Conneaut.
