E. Janie (Cleveland) Altrogge

E. Janie Altrogge, 71, of Conneaut, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at UH Conneaut Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1951 in Painesville, OH, the daughter of Wallace and Edna (Luton) Cleveland.

Janie received her master’s degree and was a self-employed horse trainer. She started the Horse Equine Program at Wilmington College.

She was a full-time teacher at Western Reserve 7th Day Adventist Church School in Painesville and was a part-time substitute teacher in Lake and Ashtabula Counties. She was a member of the Ashtabula Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Lakeshore Arts. Janie loved horses, artwork, and was an accomplished artist.

Survivors include her husband Gregory Altrogge whom she married August 4, 1990; her daughter Sarah Freeman; and her granddaughter Dahlia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Chris Freeman; and three brother Ken, Glen, and Donnie Cleveland.

Celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Ashtabula Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 874 Center St., Ashtabula, OH., with Pastor Carl Irving officiating.
