Elmore Shaffer Obituary

Elmore T. Shaffer “Moe”, 77, of Conneaut and formerly of Youngstown, OH, passed away May 15, 2020 at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsville, Ohio. He was born April 5, 1943 in Youngstown, OH., to Harold and Elsie (McHugh) Shaffer.

Moe served honorably in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 during Vietnam on the USS Arnold J. Isabell. Following his service to our country, he worked for Geneva Steel.

He was a lifelong member of the Gibson Heights Second United Presbyterian Church where he was baptized and married. Being outdoors was Moe’s favorite place whether it be deer hunting, manicuring his yard or tending to his garden. In earlier years he enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling.

Moe is survived by his loving wife Loretta (Wright) whom he married on July 31, 1976; brothers James of Youngstown, OH and Jack (Tina) of Poland, OH. ; Sisters Carole Burke of Hubbard, OH, Margaret Ruess of Struthers, OH and Sharon (Daniel) Moison of Youngstown, OH.; sister-in-law Bonnie (Duane) Roosa of Conneaut, OH; brother-in-law Bud (Karen) Wright of Columbus, OH; his favorite dog Pippin; and many nieces, nephews and more distant relatives. He is also survived by his Uncle James Shaffer who is 101 years old.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold.

A Chapel Service will be 12:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio, with Pastor Leo Feher of Gibson Heights Second United Presbyterian Church officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Gibson Heights Second United Presbyterian Church, 755 Dewey Ave., Youngstown, OH. 44502.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Cowle Post #151 following the chapel service.
