Frank Behling, Jr.

Frank Behling, Jr, 96, of North Kingsville passed away Saturday October 24, 2020 at the Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.  He was born August 4, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio -the middle son of Frank & Arcie (Bailey) Behling.

Frank served in the Army during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he found true passion in cabinet making and woodworking at Laird Lumber for over thirty years until their closing.  Frank then shifted to take his expertise to the Ashtabula County Building Department where he became a building inspector until he decided to take his retirement.  

Frank continued to work with wood, taking his passion to a whole new level in his very own garage, constructing and designing projects for his friends, family, and even local businesses within Ashtabula County.  Along with woodworking, Frank enjoyed collecting coins and reading Louis Lamour western novels.  But most of all, nothing brought more pride to Frank than watching his family grow.  He ensured that everyone carried a $2 bill within their wallet to make sure they were never broke, and went to every family gathering he could.

Frank was an advent member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut where he continued to help in all facets possible.  In 2019 he was honored by the French Government for his heroism and contribution in their liberation while serving in World War 11.

Survivors include his children, Susan (Roland) Quickle of Jefferson, Rebecca (Harvey) Ashley of Ashtabula, and Raymond (Jodi) Behling of Warsaw, Indiana; grandchildren, Susan (Nancy) Slider, Christine (Dale) Heft, Jennie (Michael) DeMoss, Douglas (Tara) Ashley, Eric (Jainie) Behling, Anna (Eli) Condinho & Alex Behling; also including nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; and brother John (Nancy) Behling of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ruth; his second wife Mary; his brother Carl Behling; and an infant son.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 876 Grove St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.

With the current COVID-19 Pandemic, masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.

Private family burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Madison.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and also at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut which is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements
