Frank Albert Simmons, age 80 of Monroe Center, passed away on June 4, 2026.
Frank was born on August 16, 1945, to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Pierce) Simmons.
Frank is survived by four nieces and one nephew: Renee (Jim) Dunn of North Kingsville, OH, Robin (Tom) Donnelly of Albany, OH, Rita Aldrich of Jacksonville, FL, Tracy (Jim) Flore of Celina, OH and Rick Towne of Grand Mound, IA. Frank is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy & Donald Wadsworth and a nephew, Randy F. Towne.
Over the years, Frank worked for the Conneaut Area School Systems, the former Norton Plastics Company and he retired from Tussel Oil in Jefferson, Ohio. Frank graduated from Rowe High School in 1963.
Frank was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church. He was also a 4-H leader and earned the 4-H Silver Clover Award for leadership.
Frank owned a camp, Twin Maples Lodge in West Hickory, PA. The entire family has many fond memories of time spent enjoying the outdoors at Uncle Frank’s Camp. He was enthusiastic about steam engines in which he attended many shows and was a long-time member of the National Threshers Association. He at one time owned some antique tractors.
Frank’s passion included vanilla wafers, vanilla ice cream and homemade cinnamon rolls. He and his sister Nancy always savored a cold glass of iced tea together. Frank loved to visit with family & friends and tell stories of the past.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home for the wonderful care Frank was given. Also, many thanks to Reserve Care (Hospice) for their compassionate care given to Frank during his final days. Many thanks to Frank’s neighbors who kept a watchful eye on him, especially Rick & Deb Robson, who Frank considered family.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 3:00 on Friday at the funeral home.
