Gerald and Bette Hewlett Together Again Forever
Gerald L. Hewlett, 93, of Kingsville, passed away January 6, 2023 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. Gerald was born in Painesville, Ohio to James Hewlett and Marcella (Bediant) Hewlett.
Gerald’s wife Bette Hewlett passed away June 6, 2015. Bette was born in Conneaut, Ohio to John Felde and Bessie (Watson) Felde.
Gerald enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and served in Germany until 1954. Upon his return to the states, he married Bette on December 11, 1954. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage and enjoyed camping, traveling the country in their motorhome and spending winters in Frostproof, Florida after Gerald’s retirement from SCM Chemicals. He also loved his garden and woodworking. Bette retired from the Astatic Corp., and enjoyed ceramics, golfing, bowling, and playing the organ.
They are survived by their children Darla Pizzi, Linda Battles (Beehler) Keiser, Timothy (Joan) Hewlett, and Lisa (Jim Martin) Helmuth; grandchildren Chris (Jona) Pizzi, Jamie (Cindy) Pizzi, Shelley (Brannon) Brown, Shawna (Lydell Hunt) Brunell, Sadie Brunell, Joshua (Judith) Helmuth, and Cody Helmuth; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Tyler, Christian, Anthony, Trey Pizzi and Kaitlyn Funk, Sharisse and Aaliyah Hunt, Vance Brown and Addison Brunell.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; sister Joyce Soltis; and brother James and Richard Hewlett.
Bette is survived by her sister Joann Schultz. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Ed, Jack, and Jim Felde.
Private graveside service was held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, with Deacon Nicholas Iarocci officiating and military honors conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.
