H. Martha (Lopeman) Norton

Life-long Conneaut resident, H. Martha Norton, 90, passed away July 31, 2020 at the Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula, OH.  Born September 27, 1929 in Bellevue, OH; she was the daughter of Herbert and Hester (Rupert) Lopeman.

Martha was a 1947 graduate of Conneaut High School and worked for Webb Manufacturing, retiring in 1995. She loved to type.  She also worked for Heintz Business Service in addition to Webb’s and continued with Heintz until 2016, nearly 30 years.  She volunteered at her local church, was the treasurer for Tops Club and loved getting together with her “Chat and Chew” group.  She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

Survivors include her daughters Donna (Mitch) Nahley, Diann (Chris) Liedel and Doreen Mundkowsky; her grandchildren Lauren Liedel, and Mary Peyton; her great-grandchildren Freya Layton, and Quinn Peyton; her sister Shirley Page; brothers Jerry (Sally) Lopeman, and Ed (Shirley) Lopeman; her sister-in-law’s Marty Lopeman, and Grete Lopeman; brother-in-law Jerry Joslin and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Tom (Mickie) Lopeman, Dick (Agnes) Lopeman, Robert Lopeman, and David Lopeman; sister Ann Joslin; sister-in-law Joyce Lopeman; brother-in-law Paul Mendal Page; and grandson Shane Gary.

Celebration of life service will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.  The family kindly asks that all visitors wear masks.

Private family burial will take place at City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions may be made to the Conneaut Historical Railroad Museum, 363 Depot St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030 or to the Conneaut Food Pantry 327 Mill St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030.
