Harold C. Mosgrove, 88, of Conneaut, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2020 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville, OH. He was born December 26, 1931 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Walter and Ethel (Simmonds) Mosgrove.
Harold was a US Navy veteran serving on the DD659. After his service, he attended Eastern Nazarene College in Boston earning his degree as a math teacher. He also earned his master’s degree at Edinboro University. He taught for 38 years at Rowe Middle School and Conneaut High School teaching math, Algebra and Geometry. Harold was one of the Top 10 Mathematicians in the Country in the 50’s.
He was a member of the New Leaf United Methodist Church and the Conneaut Elks. He raised sheep, enjoyed playing the piano, baritone, and accordion, which he took lessons for ten years, going to fairs, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Susan Wilber of Conneaut; his sons David B. Mosgrove and Kevin C. Mosgrove, both of Conneaut, and Richard (Jacquelyn) Mosgrove of Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his brothers Ralph Mosgrove of Tampa Bay, FL, and Melvin Mosgrove of Arizona; and sister-in-law Edith Mosgrove of Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Evelyn on August 21, 2020; his brother Ronald Mosgrove; and his sister-in-laws Elsie Mosgrove, and Joan Mosgrove.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave. with Pastor Jan Walsh officiating. With the current COVID-19 Pandemic, masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.
Contributions may be made to New Leaf United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the service and at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
