Harvell H. Ellzey, Jr., 78, of Conneaut, passed away Friday morning, February 17, 2023 in Cleveland surround by his wife and children. He was born October 14, 1945 in Martins Ferry, the son of Harvell H. and Helen (Suckel) Ellzey, Sr.
Harvell did not live a quiet life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he received his bachelor’s in earth science and education and became a high school teacher for 25 years working at Barlett High School in Anchorage Alaska, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Muldoon Community Assembly of God Church in Anchorage, Alaska, and Living Water Baptist Church in North Kingsville, OH. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, golfing, and bowling. Harvell loved to travel with his family. He traveled to all fifty states and drove the Alcan over forty times. Harvell is famous for his entertaining stories.
Harvell is loved and cherished by many. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years Mabel (Hazeltine) Ellzey; his son Timothy (Christy) Ellzey; daughter Shaelynn (Donald) Ballard; grandchildren Iana, Jenna, Heather, Carla, Creek, Vince, Zachary, Jade, Derricka, Cortez, and Grayson; great-grandchildren Darius, Casandra, Olivia, Thomas James, and one on the way; his sister Yvonne Ellzey; and his brother William (Joanne) Ellzey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his great-grandson Steven; and his sister Jean Ellzey.
Funeral service will be 6:00 P.M., Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Adam Hunt of Living Water Baptist Church officiating. Private burial will be held in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, PA.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
