Jack Lewis Ranney, 79 of Monroe Township died Sunday, February 4, 2024, surrounded by family at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. Jack was born February 28, 1944, in Westfield, New York to Ralph and Jean (Dorman) Ranney.
After attending high school, Jack enlisted in the United States Army and served during Viet Nam. After being honorably discharged he worked as a crane operator for Elkem Metals and was a member of the American Legion post 743 in North Kingsville.
He was a man of God and a faithful member of the Stateline Church where he held numerous positions over the years including being a trustee and chairperson of the board. Jack would do whatever was needed at the church, helping with roof repairs, new flooring at the church and cabin, assisting in the famous Chicken and Biscuit dinners, mowing and an abundance of other things. When Jack was not helping at the church, he enjoyed watching great western movies, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Guardians and would even watch a little of the Cleveland Browns, hunting, fishing, traveling and was a driver for the Amish after his retirement.
Jack is survived by his wife Sandra (Georgia) Ranney who he married on August 17, 1991, a son Eric (Kara) Ranney of Great Falls, Montana; daughter Sarah (Matthew) Ketron of Geneva, Ohio; two stepdaughters Robin Giannelli of Norco, California and Dena (Tim) Read of Aurora, Colorado; one brother Clarence Ranney of Price, Utah; grandchildren Brian, Carolyn, Amanda, Kobi, Tabitha, Jacob, Rhett, Chloe and Katherine; great grandchildren Cashton, Parker, Dallas, Danica, Ava, Rubee and Krystal; a childhood best friend Joe Kowalski in Sherman, NY.
He was preceded by his parents, a daughter Richael in 1968, two brothers Delmar and Jon Ranney and two sisters June and Joyce.
Funeral Service will be 11:00am on Saturday, February 10 th, 2024, at Stateline Church, 7321 Bushnell Rd., Conneaut, OH 44030. Burial to follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at The Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, 44030 who is honored to be serving his family and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial Contributions can be made in his memory to Stateline Church. Envelopes will be available at funeral home and church.
