Jacob "Jake" Nurkka Obituary

Jacob “Jake” Nurkka, 21 of Conneaut, Ohio left this world on February 20th, 2024.

He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who loved him and were always entertained by his sense of humor, kind heart and outgoing personality.

Jake (Nurkka to some) was born October, 5th 2002 to the late Roy Nurkka and Lisa Distelrath.

After graduating from Atech in 2021, Jake continued to work for Polchosky Excavating where Bubba took him under his wing and taught him many skills and the value of hard work, eventually Jake transitioned to working with his brother Herb at the City Water Department.

He loved spending time with those who shared the same passion with him. Similarly, to his best friend Garrett, Jake loved to ride anything with wheels. From his first power wheels as a toddler or trudging through mud holes, Jake loved it all. He was so full of life and cared so deeply for those around him.

To say he was beloved by everyone who met him was an understatement. Jake could always light up the room wherever he went. He loved with all of his being and was also loved by so many.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Distelrath, longtime girlfriend, Maddie Hunchuck, siblings, Herb (Kelly) Kelly, Nicholas Kelly, and Gina (Phil) Dickinson; grandmother, Hellevi Nurkka, and uncle Sean Distelrath. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces, Nate and Dawson Dickinson, Grace & Herbie Kelly, and Michael, Jaxson, Christopher and Faith Kelly; and several close friends.

Even though Jake joined this earth and those around him for a short 21 years, his family would like for him to be remembered for the man who lived life to the fullest. Our greatest memories with him will always live on.

Jake is now at peace, joining his father Roy Nurkka, his Aunt Liisa Nurkka Kalinowski, cousin Haunu Roivas, best friend Garrett Greene, grandparents Urho Nurkka, and Fred and Linda Distelrath.

Wish there was enough space to write all the things that made Jake amazing through his short “dash”. He was truly an amazing, genuine soul who was cared for beyond measure.
