James E. Parker, 91, of Conneaut, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. He was born February 14, 1933 in Erie, PA, the son of Clell and Ruth (Thomas) Parker.
James graduated from high school in 1953 in Albion and enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean war from 1953-1955. He worked for General Electric as a machinist, retiring in 1993 when the Jefferson plant closed and went on to work for PennCo Tool.
He had a love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, animals especially horses, drinking a good cup of coffee, rooting on the Cleveland Browns, Guardians and Ohio State Buckeyes, but above all his greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and the love that filled his heart when grandchildren and great grandchildren were near.
Survivors include his son Les Parker (Terri Mabs); daughters Darla (Wayne) Hicks, Kathy (Keith) Aldrich, Kim (Eugene) Carter, Tonia (Greg) Perez; stepdaughters Rosemarie (Tom) Noce, Patricia Haynes, and Diania (Robert) Blood; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joyce Marie (Huffman) Parker in 2020.
Graveside service will take place in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, OH, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004 or the APL, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula, OH 44004. Envelopes will be available at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
The Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Staff at the Ashtabula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and The Hospice of the Western Reserve for the love and care they provided to their father, especially Sharon Mason for always making sure James had his warm cup of coffee when wanted.
